Birth Doula Support for Chicagoland
& Southeastern Wisconsin Families
PREGNANCY SUPPORT
Upon hiring me as your birth doula, you will have full access to me and my community resources with phone/text/email support.
We will have three scheduled visits during your pregnancy. The initial meeting, and two - third trimester home visits.
After our initial meeting, I will visit you in your home for a prenatal visit between weeks 32-34 of pregnancy.
During that time, we will discuss your goals for your birth as well as fears that you may have. I will also collect information from you regarding any past pregnancies, and go over relaxation techniques that you prefer, and those you don’t. We will create your birth plan together.
Around 35-36 weeks of pregnancy I will visit you in your home again, we’ll discuss the stages of labor and expectations you have for laboring at home, when to move to the hospital, birth center or reach out to the midwife for an at-home birth. We’ll refine and finalize your birth plan. Feeding goals will also be discussed.
LABOR & BIRTH SUPPORT
Beginning at 37 weeks, I will provide you with 24/7 on-call support. We will touch base every other day to keep in touch with how you are managing not only physically, but emotionally as your estimated due date draws near.
As you begin the early stages of labor, we will be in constant communication as we continually assess how you are doing physically and emotionally, and together decide when it is time for me to join you at home as you labor. This may be in mid early labor or the start of active labor.
I will stay and support you and your birth partner continuously until your baby is born, and provide assistance with baby’s first feeding.
POSTPARTUM SUPPORT
Once you are home and settled with baby, I will come for one postpartum visit (between days 5-7).
During that visit, we will go over your labor & birth experience. We will also discuss newborn care and any concerns you are having.
Resources for any postpartum concerns will be shared with you.
I will continue to provide support by phone/email/text through six weeks postpartum.
